Cherry Cola Sorbet! Lets kick 2018 off with something a little bit retro.
Now I am far to young to recall ever ordering a Cherry Coke from the Milk Bar but I bet some of you out there remember the good ole days with clarity. But to help those of you who can’t, try this one.
While it isn’t necessarily a cocktail, this hot weather lends itself remarkably well to Sorbet. Of course sorbet is nothing without a splash of Vodka (it helps hold the consistency and avoids it freezing solid too, really!)
If you have a few leftover cherries and a can of coke, you are one step ahead of the recipe. The rest is really up to the freezer and of course your Thermomix will do all the heavy lifting.
Cherry Cola Sorbet
1 can Cola -frozen into ice cube trays.
150gms cherries – frozen and pitted.
1 shot Vodka
1 shot Cherry Brandy (optional)
1 Homemade Maraschino Cherry for garnish
Add frozen cola ice cubes, frozen cherries and Vodka into your TM bowl.
Blend on speed 10 for 20 seconds.
At this point you should taste your sorbet for “Cherriness”. I added a shot of Cherry Brandy to pump up the flavour.
Pour into a container and freeze until ready. The sorbet will hold its shape and becomes scoopable.
Serve topped with a Homemade Maraschino Cherry or maybe a scoop of ice-cream!
Get your roller skates out and your poodle skirts on. You’ve just stepped back in time.
